Meditation is a positive and amazing way of transforming the mind. It is a state of consciousness and a deep peace that occurs when the mind is calm and silent and free from scattered thoughts. Practising meditation is one of the most effective forms of stress reduction, so it is an necessity for everyday life. It allows an individual to focus on the present moment instead of agonising over the past or worrying about the future. There are so many benefits of meditation for the mind, body and soul. A meditation practice helps to improve concentration, increase self-awareness, increase happiness, slow the aging process, relax and rejuvenate the mind, increase serotonin production, boost the immune system, increase energy, develop intuition, gain clarity, achieve peace of mind, increase creativity, normalise blood pressure, release tension, relax the body and relieve anxiety, depression, tension and stress. Meditation promotes deep healing and transformation, and as Paramahansa Yogananda beautifully stated when you ‘practice meditation you’ll find that you are carrying within your heart a portable paradise’.
Meditation lessons are great for anyone who wishes to learn how to meditate and start a daily meditation practice, or for anyone who wishes to deepen their current meditation practice.
A meditation lesson entails an explanation of meditation and the benefits, an explanation of the different meditation techniques available, detailed instructions and tips on how to meditate, and a practice of a breathing exercise, a mindfulness of breathing meditation and a guided meditation.
